# How do I put together an unjoined wood frame?
## American Frame’s unassembled frames come with all necessary components for easy assembly. Follow the step-by-step instructions to apply glue, add the frame inserts, and securely join the frame using basic tools.
### What You’ll Receive
When your unassembled frames arrive:
1. **Assembly Instructions**: A step-by-step guide to help you assemble your frame.
2. **Frame Hardware**: Securely attached to the top of the frame packaging.
3. **Frames**: Neatly packaged in pairs and pre-routed for easy assembly.
### Tools You'll Need:
- **Hammer or mallet**: For tapping the inserts into place.
- **White glue**: For joining frame pieces securely.
- **Paper towels**: For cleaning off excess glue.
- **Safety glasses**: To protect your eyes during assembly.
### Assembly Instructions
#### Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
- Set up a clean, flat work surface, such as a table or workbench.
- Lay down cardboard or craft paper to protect the surface from glue and other materials.
#### Step 2: Applying Glue & Joining the First Frame Corner
- Apply glue evenly to one section of the frame.
- Press the two sections together firmly to form one corner.
- Take one of the provided inserts (flat side up) and press it into the routed opening in the corner.
- Use a hammer to tap the insert into place gently.
- Wipe away any excess glue with a damp paper towel.
#### Step 3: Repeat for the Second Frame Corner
- Repeat **Step 2** for the other two frame sections, ensuring that the corresponding lengths align correctly.
- Again, apply glue to the exposed ends and carefully tap the inserts into place with a hammer.
- Wipe off excess glue with a damp paper towel.
#### Step 4: Final Frame Joining
- Apply glue to the exposed ends of the remaining two corners.
- Place the last two inserts (flat side up) into the routed openings.
- Gently tap the inserts into place with the hammer.
- Clean off any glue that has spilled with a damp paper towel.
### Tips for Easy Assembly:
- Always work on a clean, flat surface.
- Ensure each insert is correctly positioned in the routed openings.
- Use a gentle tap of the hammer to securely place the inserts without damaging the frame.
- Clean off any excess glue immediately with a damp paper towel to prevent residue.
After completing the steps, your frame should be securely assembled and ready to display your artwork.
